Sun Electric currently employs approximately 150 people. Our employee base is a diverse, skilled and capable non-union workforce that has built a solid reputation in our industry over many years of service. During 2008, Sun employees logged over 378,000 man-hours without a single recordable incident.
Sun Electric has a safety record that is better than the industry average. We have experienced one recordable incident over the past three years, which in aggregate, account for nearly 1,000,000 man-hours. We have a full-time staff of four within our safety department, which is headed by Mr. Don Hoffman, who has over 35 years experience in the electrical industry with large energy companies. Our safety department is focused on continually monitoring and enhancing our safety program and our company’s safety goals to ensure Sun can provide an incident-free workplace for years to come.
Sun Electric has recently implemented an Apprenticeship Training Program that has been approved by the United States Department of Labor. Our program consists of a combination of 8,000 hours of education and on-the-job experience, including groundman training, safe work practices, electric power principles, equipment operator training, overhead installations and overhead and underground system maintenance, hot-line training and several other relevant topics to the end markets in which we operate.
